It just struck me that it would perhaps make sense if you could commit this
change before I do too much work on my non-blocking stuff since I'll be
fiddling a little bit all over and my work might very well collide with this
patch of yours.
Any drawbacks with simply committing it now and fixing any remaining quirks as
we proceed?
