Because:

a) the majority of the people who build and run libssh2 already have
    the dependencies installed

b) we have independent release schedules

c) we prefer to have smaller download packages

d) we don't want to consider how that would effect us license-wise

e) we don't want people to assume that we "take care" of those modules like we
    do for libssh2 itself, like for bug reports or general support etc

f) it's not what packages use to do and we want to follow the tradition and
    blend in among our equals

g) there's no point

... and probably a few more reasons.

And please don't hijack threads, top-post or full-quote. That's not proper
mailing list etiquette.
