As I wrote, I expect communication before action.

So I've spent some hours on those commits and have finally pushed
them, after a revert of Daniel's commit.

Awesome. Take a look at the way configure.ac and Makefile.am are now.
It should be even easier to add in the WinCNG support. I have some
comments on the patch that Daniel committed, I'll send those in a
separate mail. Thanks!
