Thanks for the response,

What's the max limit of bytes we can send as command in = libssh2_channel_exec API.

As i tried, 34,725 bytes of string can be sent as command in= that api. I using loop say it iterates till 4mb.
First iteration, libssh2_channel_exec success in executing command, but fro= m 2nd iteration getting fails - throws error - unable to send channel reque= st.

Please let me know the maximum limit of string can be used t= o send as command?

You have to first execute some command on the remote host which will
accept those commands from you and execute them on your behalf.

As you discovered, you can only execute one command in one SSH channel.

You have to choose for yourself what program is suitable as the first
command. Most shells are not suited because they are written as user
interfaces for humans. You need a programmable shell, which is not
common. You probably have to write one yourself, but that's not so

After you have studied the SSH protocol (links are available on the http://trac.libssh2.org/wiki/FAQ webpage) and implemented this I think it would be nice if you could contribute a good example which follows the style of the existing examples. That depends on the server OS kernel as much as the server-side SSH
implementation. You can control neither.

As I explained, you must use a special program on the server to
facilitate the execution of multiple commands. You will have to
create and supply that program, ideally as part of setting up the
channel.

Did you study the protocol specification?

RFC 4252 5.2.=C2=A0 The "none" Authentication Request

=C2=A0 =C2=A0A client may request a list of authentication 'method name= ' values
=C2=A0 =C2=A0that may continue by using the "none" authentication= 'method name'.

> Is there a way to connect that server through libssh2 ?

As I wrote, the libssh2 API matches the protocol API closely.

Did you study the library API documentation?

It seems server issue. While it may appear that 'ssh ' is connecting without authentication, there are several ways that ssh could be silently authenticating without requiring a password and without you realizing it (e.g. Kerberos, private key, ssh-agent). If you give the -v option on the OpenSSH client command-line, it will show you the steps it is going to authenticate the connection. There's a good chance that it's not actually unauthenticated. In today's world, there are few instances where that's a good idea. > > Thanks > Kishore > > On 17-Jul-2015 2:47 pm, "Peter Stuge" wrote: > > Kishore Av wrote: > > I could able to connect ssh server only with username and without > > providing the password manually. > > Did you study the protocol specification? > > RFC 4252 5.2.  The "none" Authentication Request > >    A client may request a list of authentication 'method name' values >    that may continue by using the "none" authentication 'method name'. > > > > Is there a way to connect that server through libssh2 ? > > As I wrote, the libssh2 API matches the protocol API closely. > > > > If so, which API can be used to connect? > > Did you study the library API documentation? > > /* libssh2_userauth_list >  * >  * List authentication methods >  * Will yield successful login if "none" happens to be allowable for this > user > > > > //Peter > _______________________________________________ > libssh2-devel http://cool.haxx.se/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/libssh2-devel > > _______________________________________________ > libssh2-devel http://cool.haxx.se/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/libssh2-devel _______________________________________________ libssh2-devel http://cool.haxx.se/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/libssh2-devel From libssh2-devel-bounces@cool.haxx.se Tue Jul 21 08:52:13 2015 Return-Path: Received: from www.haxx.se (localhost.localdomain [127.0.0.1]) by giant.haxx.se (8.14.4/8.14.4/Debian-7) with ESMTP id t6L6porv010653; Tue, 21 Jul 2015 08:52:10 +0200 Received: from mail-ob0-x22b.google.com (mail-ob0-x22b.google.com [IPv6:2607:f8b0:4003:c01::22b]) by giant.haxx.se (8.14.4/8.14.4/Debian-7) with ESMTP id t6L6pkw2010034 (version=TLSv1/SSLv3 cipher=ECDHE-RSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256 bits=128 verify=NOT) for ; Tue, 21 Jul 2015 08:51:47 +0200 Received: by obnw1 with SMTP id w1so113801588obn.3 for ; Mon, 20 Jul 2015 23:51:41 -0700 (PDT) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=gmail.com; s=20120113; h=mime-version:in-reply-to:references:date:message-id:subject:from:to :content-type; bh=OS4Rvsc5cgg+7xr5KVkuTqRrJ1lorWNa4sjIUh44DJs=; b=Luna/MZi2JvYtoaGPZAhUI8LlRyDHqIAIy6PdDPuhIIDmTVkObda9LGwQktjNTnWnU bT5DpKI21ULfhMr4/0Qi08q/b7iaDdIvpw5Ud34BLjT0P3jKgxFgXFZAmvyWumP3ihF0 xLoxKC+LLEjd+3u35Xvh82vlnRjUvFUqWq+C0sMCtmPqawsqTD4EIo51Rj/HOQ4mng7y qabbhwyE2mVJRgcEEtFY7p+hAnW2imMixQ9IuLt7M7S4KEM0zEMjm8EQ3YC9XewCwg1Z DMgguMUfj9w7UZOqt7e/K+8DIdL8SAMVV4ahWTSN7VVrCOYWWsqRV9hBzL+qrnanBMv/ Wmwg== MIME-Version: 1.0 X-Received: by 10.202.54.3 with SMTP id d3mr28288001oia.103.1437461501420; Mon, 20 Jul 2015 23:51:41 -0700 (PDT) Received: by 10.182.96.167 with HTTP; Mon, 20 Jul 2015 23:51:41 -0700 (PDT) Received: by 10.182.96.167 with HTTP; Mon, 20 Jul 2015 23:51:41 -0700 (PDT) In-Reply-To: <20150720213616.GA24034@coneharvesters.com> References: <20150717091559.17986.qmail@stuge.se> <20150720213616.GA24034@coneharvesters.com> Date: Tue, 21 Jul 2015 12:21:41 +0530 Message-ID: Subject: Re: Authentication issue From: Kishore Av To: libssh2-devel@cool.haxx.se X-BeenThere: libssh2-devel@cool.haxx.se X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.18 Precedence: list List-Id: libssh2 development List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , Reply-To: libssh2 development Content-Type: multipart/mixed; boundary="===============0215200947==" Errors-To: libssh2-devel-bounces@cool.haxx.se Sender: "libssh2-devel" --===============0215200947== Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary=001a113cd1382bacdf051b5d1664 --001a113cd1382bacdf051b5d1664 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 Thanks Dan, -v options really helps me to check debug. Thanks Dan, -v options really helps me to check debug.

Authentication success, got confirmed by libssh2_userauth_au= thenticated.
Channel created success.

Now there is another issue,
while executing command It's returning error string "Failed waitin= g for channel success".

May I know what problem it is???

Thanks
Kishore

While it may appear that 'ssh <IP address>' is connecting wit= hout
authentication, there are several ways that ssh could be silently
authenticating without requiring a password and without you realizing it (e= .g.
Kerberos, private key, ssh-agent). If you give the -v option on the OpenSSH=
client command-line, it will show you the steps it is going to authenticate= the
connection.=C2=A0 There's a good chance that it's not actually unau= thenticated. In
today's world, there are few instances where that's a good idea.

That error message comes from the function _libssh2_channel_process_startup. It occurs when the reply code SSH_MSG_CHANNEL_SUCCESS or SSH_MSG_CHANNEL_FAILURE are not received. The error code printed in that error message will give you a better idea why that might be the case. >>> Dan > > Thanks > Kishore > > On 21-Jul-2015 3:08 am, "Dan Fandrich" wrote: > > On Fri, Jul 17, 2015 at 04:18:06PM +0530, Kishore Av wrote: > > Thanks for response, > > I already tried userauth_list and it returns NULL. > > Based on your explanation i comes to know that, ssh server should be > configured > > as none.
